Our St. Lucia Honeymoon

If you’ve been following along on Instagram for the past few months then you already had a glimpse into our honeymoon in St. Lucia.

If I could describe our honeymoon in just one word, it would be dreamy. St. Lucia is a little slice of heaven on earth. The teal blue water, sunsets, Pitons, and lush landscape of the island are beyond picturesque… even on rainy days. We partnered with Emily of Traveluxe Official to plan the honeymoon of our dreams (and the first of many trips to this beautiful island).

We had the most amazing time and are so excited to share a little more about our trip with you! If you’re planning your next vacation or brainstorming for your honeymoon then keep reading! I’m giving you a rundown on our entire honeymoon experience.

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the beautiful Sugar Beach Viceroy resort, a preferred partner of Traveluxe and for good reason. The resort was everything we imagined and more. Located near the town of Soufriere, Sugar Beach is nestled between the two Pitons (volcanic magma build-up, thanks Google) and just as luxurious as it sounds.

Having Emily on our team to book and coordinate everything with the resort was huge! It took a big to-do off our laps while we were wedding planning and gave us peace of mind before even arriving!

The first thing that drew us in about Sugar Beach was the gorgeous all-white villas, each with their own private pool. With vaulted ceilings, a private lounge space, a white 4-poster bed, and a claw foot tub, the rooms gave off that perfect luxury beachfront cottage vibe.

One of our must-haves of wherever we stayed was that we had our own pool and some privacy – and our room did not disappoint. If you’re currently planning, make a list of what’s most important to you about your accommodations, that will help narrow your selections down quicker!

The view from our room/pool was to die for! We were surrounded by the two Pitons and could see the ocean in the distance. One of our very favorite things was to wake up and enjoy our morning coffee in bed or in the pool and enjoy the view.

Oh! And I must mention upon our arrival to our villa we were greeted by a bottle of champagne and actual prints of our wedding pictures that had only been posted a day earlier courtesy of Emily and the Traveluxe team. Swoon! 🥰

What We Did

Prior to our honeymoon in St. Lucia we had planned to do a few excursions off property, but once we got there, we quickly realized we really wanted to just relax and spend time together. Every couple is different, so do what works for you, but 9 days of relaxation was just what we needed! These were our favorite things to do and features on the property.

The Point Beach

This private little beach on the resort was one of our favorite spots. We were just bummed we didn’t find out about it until halfway through our trip

With a view of both Pitons, it’s own bar, beach loungers, and a net that overhangs the ocean, this was hands down the most picturesque spot on the resort. One of my favorite memories from the trip is when we took a bottle of champagne down and enjoyed it while watching the sunset.

Sunset Sail

One of the first few nights we were in St. Lucia we knew we wanted to do a sunset sail tour. Sugar Beach Villas come with Butlers, who schedule all of your excursions and dinner reservations. We had the most amazing team that assisted us during our stay and can’t wait to go back and see them! For our sunset sail, we booked with Mystic Man Tour, by our Butler’s choosing and we’re blown away.

We sailed around Soufriere, met other couples staying at nearby resorts, had a few cocktails, and watched the sunset in the distance. It was magical! The evening ended early enough (sunset was around 6 pm) that we were able to come back and still have dinner reservations!

I also wore this L*Space coverup throughout our entire trip. I’m wearing it here as a shirt with my bikini top underneath, and also wore it just as a coverup with a swimsuit!

Jade Mountain

By far the highlight of our trip, Emily coordinated a romantic evening to the nearby world-famous, Jade Mountain resort.

Our Butler arranged a water taxi to come and pick us up to take us to Jade Mountain, which was a 25-minute boat ride from Sugar Beach.

We arrived about an hour before sunset and got to enjoy champagne and appetizers on the terrace at Jade Moutain, which has the most incredible view of both Pitons and the sunset.

After the sunset, we ate dinner on The Celestial Terrace and were told that we were given the best seat in the house. Thanks, Emily! 😉

The food at Jade Mountain was absolutely incredible, and we raved about it the entire next day and when we returned home. It was 4 courses, but made of perfect portions, and everything was so flavorful and unique.

We waited until one of the last nights of our trip to do this dinner and it was just an extra special evening. We felt really blessed as we sat together and took everything in that had happened within the last week and during our stay in St. Lucia!

Spa Day

We knew we wanted to do a couple’s massage one of the mornings and it was one of the most relaxing parts of the trip. The Rainforest Spa, is actually what it sounds like – a spa nestled into the rainforest of St. Lucia.

The spa features individual cottages where you can get a variety of spa services and spend the morning, afternoon, or whole day. We did a couple’s massage and champagne lunch following, which was so relaxing. We still had plenty of time to enjoy the pool and daylight post-massage!

Favorite Food Spots

The resort property has a good amount of places to eat, but we developed a few favorites during our stay.

In the morning we had complimentary breakfast on the Terrace, compliments of the Traveluxe team, and always had new options to pick from. The views were gorgeous, of course, looking out at the lush landscape, Pitons, and ocean in the distance.

The Cane Bar

Our favorite restaurant by far for dinner reservations at Sugar Beach was the Cane Bar. The Cane Bar serves Asian and Japanese cuisine and we went three times during our stay for their delicious sushi rolls. Travis and I both agreed it was the best sushi we had ever had!

This is a MUST try if you stay here! A little tip: we asked to sit in the backroom and they always let us. It was a bit more private and intimate than the front dining area.

Room Service

Pretty much every day we ordered some type of room service! It was easy and convenient and usually ordering room service, enjoying our pool, and watching the sunset with champagne was our favorite way to end the day.

What To Bring

Packing for a vacation to somewhere you’ve never been can be challenging. I know the next time we head to St. Lucia or a tropical island, I’ll be packing way less than I did for our honeymoon.

I pretty much lived in my swimsuit, denim shorts, and coverups. My favorite swimsuits for any trip are by L*Space, which I rave about all the time!

At night when we would go out to dinner, I loved an easy two-piece set or beachy dress that was flowy yet covered my legs (because… mosquitoes).

Of course, pack things like sunscreen – it’s a little harder to find at the resort than I thought – especially if you have a favorite. The sun is definitely stronger so we reapplied often! I would also recommend bringing more than enough of your shampoo/conditioner, as I found the water different in St. Lucia so may hair took more product to get clean.

One of Travis’s favorite things that I packed for us was custom Yeti tumblers with our initials on them. I had them made prior to our honeymoon (order with plenty of time to spare!) so we could take them on our trip. We ended up using them the entire time and the resort would fill them up for us with water and ice at the beach/pool. It was essential to have plenty of water with the hot temps and sun!

The Service/Staff

The service and staff at Sugar Beach went above and beyond any of our expectations heading into our trip.

Not only was it incredible to work with Emily to have her organize the logistics of our trip and stay, but that personalized treatment also did not stop once we arrived.

Our villa had four Butlers throughout the week. Michael, Sherman, Felicia, and Gary, and they were SO kind and one of the highlights of our time there. They felt like old friends and always made us feel extra special.

Whether it was returning to chocolates, champagne, and a candlelit room, or even just grabbing a few necessities we forgot to bring, they were always so gracious and made the trip memorable.

The service extended to every single person we encountered that worked for the resort. The shuttle staff that took you everywhere throughout the property was full of recommendations and must do’s. They even gave us insight into the rooms with the best views for our next stay. Which is hopefully soon!

At the end of our trip, we were sad to leave but excited to plan our next trip back! St. Lucia was one of the most beautiful places we had ever seen and the people that are from the Island are wonderful. It truly is the perfect honeymoon destination.

We cannot thank Emily and the Traveluxe team enough for all of the coordination and making our honeymoon the most memorable. If you are planning a special trip, think honeymoon, anniversary, or a family vacation, Emily can take your dreams and make them a reality!
